Is Summer 2020 Really Cancelled?
Nothing has prepared us for this pandemic. Out of nowhere we're all locked up in our homes trying to stay safe and sane in this on-going crisis.
Then the next thing I know is that three months has already passed and..POOF! I asked myself, "Is it almost SUMMER?!"
I know how you feel, because we're on the same boat. I know everyone's excited for summer. We all just want this coronavirus to go away and have some fun again. But with the current stats failing to flatten the curve, our summer vibe might be on a temporary halt.
Shall I Go Ahead With My Summer Holiday or Cancel?
According to vulture.com, "in an effort to prevent spreading the virus, many concerts, festivals, film and TV shoots, and major events have been cancelled, rescheduled or modified. No Instagram influencers are taking a trip to Love Island this year, as ITV cancelled the summer 2020 season."
In addition to that, it's also unlikely that people can travel overseas anytime soon since some countries are still closing their borders and restricting travelers on taking non-essential trips. Airline companies have also controlled flight schedules and implemented strict boarding protocols.
Airlines and Travel Agencies are now facing a major backlash from delayed refunds from customers cancelling their holiday trip. With the current economic crisis, delays for refund are expected as companies try to bounce back from profit loss over the past few months.
With that being said, I'm not going to risk it for the biscuit. I might miss a much awaited summer holiday but I won't risk my health and safety over a trip that I might regret in the end.
So Summer's Cancelled, What Now?
Yes it's cancelled, but hey, it's not the end of the world. You're healthy, safe at home and have food on your table. You're still blessed.
There's a lot of fun ways to make the most out of the Summer season at the comfort of your homes.
Here are fun ways to spend a fun and productive summer at home.
5 Fun-Worthy Summer Activities To Do At Home
Now is the time to push yourself to learn something new or improve a skill you have. Take advantage with discounted eLearning offers from different platforms such as LinkedIn. They're even offering learning sessions for free.
A lot of businesses are hosting virtual activities such as cooking, painting, zumba, arts & crafts and so much more. This is a perfect time to hang out with other people while learning safely at home.
Take this time to assess how you're looking after yourself. Improve how you eat and start cooking a healthy meal. Try a new workout plan or beauty regimen. Now is the time to focus on yourself and be a better individual.
Being at home most of the time can be boring and tiring. Redecorating your home might give a fresh twist to your same old home. Add some bright color accents or make it into a summer theme. It won't feel like you missed a summer holiday. So the next time you see your room, it would feel like "El Paraiso".
Who says you can't do summer at home? Go ahead, grab your glasses, wear a sunblock and strut that Escape bikini. Feel the heat of the sun in your very own Puerto Balcony or La Backyard. Have a sip with a homemade piña colada while sun-bathing and you're all set!
We're all bummed out that Summer might be cancelled, but that doesn't mean that having FUN was cancelled, too.
