Thirst-Quenching Drinks to Hydrate Your Skin this Summer
July 23, 2020 29 Comments
We understand why you can’t keep the temperature down, ‘cause you’re too hot to handle!
But kidding aside though, you definitely need to watch out for the hot temperature this summer. Too much heat if not prevented, can pose risks for your health such as: skin problems (breakouts), heat rash, dehydration or worse heat stroke.
So, Drink your WATER Babe!
Do you ever notice how celebrities were asked about their skin routine? They always say that they drink lots of fluids such as water, more than 8 glasses a day. They’re for real! Water has the ability to cleanse out bad toxins from your body while also keeping you hydrated. Plus it’s zero calorie and free at home.
However, water can be too bland sometimes and we wanted something else to quench our thirst. Well, fret no more because we have listed down drinks that can make your skin more hydrated and radiant as ever.
Healthy Drinks to Achieve that Glorious Skin
The next time you visit the grocery store or farmer’s market, make sure you’ve grabbed your hands on those bright yellow lemons. According to healthline.com, lemon water is packed with health benefits that can truly do wonders for your body.
Lemons are naturally rich with Vitamin C which strengthens your immune system. Our immune system is in-charge against fighting harmful bacteria and viruses (oops rona) that can make you ill. Also, Vitamin C found in lemon is said to have amazing powers to help stop your skin from wrinkling. It’s a natural anti-aging drink that not only hydrates but radiates your skin.
Chia seeds have been gaining popularity among health conscious and individuals who maintain a plant-based diet. These wonder seeds made it on the list as one of the “superfoods” that you should start including in your daily diet.
Consuming chia seeds with water daily can not only help improve your skin and digestive tract. It’s packed with omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants that helps fight ageing, skin problems and inflammation. It’s also rich in fiber which boosts digestion and aids weight loss. This drink is like hitting two birds with one stone.
Doesn’t matter if you’re in the tropics or not, you definitely need coco water in your life. It’s the best hydrating drink whether it’s consumed cold or just by itself. It’s just perfect for the summer heat especially when you’re hanging out at the beach or pool.
Coconut water offers great health benefits that your body will surely thank you for. It has antioxidants, of course that is good for the skin. It aids against kidney stones, diabetes, blood pressure and heart problems. It’s less in calories and definitely an affordable drink perfect for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Ditch your regular cow’s milk and make a big switch with almond milk. I know almond milk is quite expensive than the regular ones but to save a few bucks, you can always DIY. Get some fresh almonds at the farmer’s market, soak it with water overnight and blend it the next day. Voila! You got your very own homemade almond milk.
Almond milk is good for you since it has fewer calories but exudes with health benefits. Almonds have antioxidants and free radicals that protect your skin cells from damage. It’s also rich in protein and healthy fats that helps build muscle tissues. Note: Do not use this if you’re allergic to nuts.
Ever wonder how Japanese people stay slim amid all that mouth-watering sushi and ramens. It’s that green tea, girl. Every after meal, they chug it like water. Green tea is one of the healthiest drinks that you can make in an instant. All you need is a tea bag and hot water.
Green tea will not only help you cut unwanted fats, but it also helps your body to heal. It has antioxidants, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that aids skin problems. It has polyphenols that fight oil secretion from the pores that causes pimples and acne. When you’re making your green tea, take advantage of its steam and pull your face a bit closer to naturally detox your skin and keep it hydrated.
It’s your turn, Babe. Spill the tea!

HOW TO WEAR YOUR SWIMSUIT AS A CASUAL WEAR
July 10, 2020 74 Comments
Summer season is still on and we can’t wait to strut our cute and sultry swimsuits under the sun. But thanks to the pandemic, our summer vibe was cut short.
Especially if you’ve already purchased and prepared for your summer OOTDs, it would be such a bummer to discover that your swimsuits will end up in that dark closet room.
But fashionistas like us beg to disagree. Swimsuits do not belong to the closet. It belongs to your body. IT SHOULD BE WORN CONFIDENTLY.
Although you’re not travelling to Bali or Hawaii anytime soon, your swimsuits can still be of good use. Why not use it for casual or daily wear? Yep, you heard me right!
Here’s a Sure Fire Way to Wear Swimsuit for Casual Wear
Cargo pants are still on fire this 2020. Pair up your safari cargo pants with an Astrid one-piece black suit for that chic-swagger vibe. Accessorize it with a bulky leather fanny pack and oversized beanie. Complete the overall look with a pair of white sneakers.
Dress up like you’re on your way to the gym or maybe you just finished your yoga session. Step up your good old sweatpants and pair it with an Elisa white bikini top. Go for dark minimalist colors for your sweatpants. Finish it up with a stylish oversized jacket. Don’t zip it all the way up or leave it open and let your bikini top stand out.
High-waist denim shorts are always perfect for summer casual wears. Let go of your typical white shirt pairing and replace it with a Bianca one-piece. The Bianca suit is a perfect pairing for any high-waist denim shorts since the mid-waist ribbon adds texture to the overall look. No need to add a belt! Complete the look with your dark sunglasses and army boots.
Got some Sunday brunch plans with the girlfriends? Impress them with a classic boho look pairing your flowy floral skirt with Rachel lemon bikini top. Complete the whole package with dangling earrings and a pair of espadrille heels. A perfect combo outfit for the hot summer weather. This will let you feel like having brunch with your girlfriends in Barcelona or Cancun.
If somebody just invited you for a last casual date night and you don’t know what to wear, look no further. Your black one-piece is here to the rescue. Pair up your leather high-waist side slit midi skirt and a sultry Venus one-piece black suit. Go for the win with a pair of your red stilettos and voila! You’re definitely looking gorgeous on your date night in less than five minutes. Your date will surely can’t take his eyes off of you.
As Bill Cunningham said,
“Fashion is the Armor to Survive the Reality of Everyday Life.”
The last time I check there’s no strict rule that says that bikinis or swimsuits are limited to the beach and pools. If you feel like wearing them on a casual day (I mean don't wear just the bikini by itself in public), then do it girl! As long as you feel good, comfortable and creative with your style, you can never go wrong with it.
How about you? Is there any Casual Bikini-Style that you enjoy and would like to share with us?

Virtual Interview With Founder: Inspiration Behind Our Brand
July 02, 2020 32 Comments
Escape Swimwear Founder, Nancy Vong’s empowering words on being a “Boss Lady” and keeping the business afloat during Pandemic Crisis
“But with every adversity is also an opportunity. As long as you look for the right doors, they will open.”
This week, Escape’s Founder, Nancy Vong, spilled the beans about her success in business and as well as sharing her pandemic story on how her company overcame the struggles brought by covid-19.
Amidst her crazy schedule and multiple roles to juggle, we are grateful that she had granted us this rare opportunity to have a “virtual interview”. I know you’re also curious and excited to get to know the woman behind Escape’s stylish swimwears. Well, here you go!
What’s the Inspiration behind Escape Swimwear’s brand?
Escape Swimwear is inspired by many. By the simple things around us, family, friends, influencers, celebrities - everything you can think of. We find beauty in the simplest things and turn it into something special. That is what makes us unique.
What was the first swimwear design that Escape released and how did you feel about it?
The first design we released was the Coco set, in which we still carry as of today. It is one of our best sellers and will continue to last through all the times and trends.
Which Escape Swimwear design best describes you and why?
The best design that describes me is the “BIANCA” one piece! It’s not only a one piece, (which is more of my style) but it also has a little strap tie, and the two thin shoulder straps are amazing as well.
What do you think you’ve learned about yourself since founding your own brand?
Ever since starting this as a side business, I’ve learned that I’m able to put anything as long as I work for it. Be resourceful, consistent and you will succeed at anything you do.
Catering customers around the world is quite a job to fulfill, as a sole business owner how do you maintain work life balance?
As a business owner, I am nothing without my team! We are able to help and strive together, as well as grow. The work life balance comes after the imbalance :)
With the pandemic going on, what business strategies have you changed to keep the business afloat?
With the pandemic, it is easy to be worried and not know where your business is heading. But, with every adversity is also an opportunity. As long as you look for the right doors, they will open.
As the “new normal” has started, can you share with us the new norms you’ve implemented and how it affects the company?
Ever since this has started and affected all of our lives, my team has permanently started to work from home! We have less campaigns and meet ups in person, but it is fine - because with the beauty of technology, we can still stay in touch at just a phone call away!
Your brand empowers women and self love a lot, how has this taught you about the power of sisterhood and loving imperfections?
This has taught me so much about myself, my loved ones and how proud I am of women who stand up for themselves. Whether it’s believing in yourself, building confidence to go out in a bikini or simply taking the courage to even start a healthier lifestyle journey!
What tips and advice can you impart to all the women out there who are planning to start their own business?
All I have to say is just to stay consistent and work hard :) Things come to those who are patient.
One last thing, what can we look forward to for Escape?
Be on our newsletter and stay on our socials! We update everyday and release new styles every month. We sell out fast and we’re going into a direction that no other world class swimwear brand has done yet ;) Stay tuned...
Nancy’s story is truly an inspiration for all the women-preneurs out there that are striving to build their own empire and break boundaries. We at Escape believe that one day you will have your very own success story.
Remember, “Good things come to those who are patient.”

LOSING A JOB DURING PANDEMIC - HOW TO BOUNCE BACK?
June 23, 2020 32 Comments
How long has it been since the pandemic horridly surprised us this 2020? I’m definitely not counting. This virus is not what we expected to be, but there it is easily tearing our quiet lives apart without a notice. Establishments closing down due to lockdowns, companies filing for bankruptcy and employees being laid off is not a wonderful sight to look at.
For everyone whose dreams have been shattered, we at Escape feel your dread. It must be hard to juggle the problems with the virus and also take care with your financial woes. You know what they say, “when it rains it really pours”. But this is not the end. You can still do a come back.
Losing a job can make it easier for us to sulk and be salty about it. I mean, nobody likes to be laid off just like that. It’s normal to feel the anger, disappointment and doubts to yourself as to why the company let you go.
But girl, it's not YOU. It’s the pandemic.
So instead of doubting and questioning yourself whether you’re competent enough as a worker or listing down the reasons why they didn’t keep you, it’s better to move forward past it.
Here’s what you can do to slowly bounce back from your job loss.
Don’t Hold Back Your Emotions
Losing a job is like going through a break-up, it makes you heartbroken and in denial at the same time. It might sound unreal the first time you hear about it then it starts hitting you the truth. It’s over now between you and your employer.
If you need to let go of your emotions then do so. It’s normal to feel sad and disappointed. If you wanna cry, cry it out. Weep until you’re tired of weeping. Release it all and don’t let that tiny bit of negative emotions stay inside you. Remember to not let your emotions turn you into a monster by making a scene in the office. Walk away with pride and dignity.
Don’t Burn Bridges
I understand that you feel hurt and angry towards your employer for letting you go in this time of crisis. But know that these companies are also trying to save their business other than their employees. They need to make tough choices to stay afloat.
I know it can be hard but you can express sympathy to your employer. Thank them for the career they’ve provided to you and all the lessons you’ve learned from them that you can apply in the future. Instead of walking away like a stranger, let them know that whenever the business recovers in the future, you’d be willing to join the company again.
Your employer will surely remember this gesture and maybe who knows, you’ll end up working for them again.
Accept and Reflect
Once you’ve let go of all the negative feelings, it will become easier for you to accept the situation and move on. Learning how to accept and stop controlling on what’s going around you is a special skill you get to practice overtime.
Once you’ve accepted the truth, reflect on the situation. Go somewhere peaceful or visit your “happy place” to do some thinking. Maybe this is the time where you can turn things around. You might reconsider career transition, a break or volunteer to serve the community.
Once you’ve made a decision, make sure this is something that can make you happy and help you move forward.
Consider Working from Home
If you’ve read our previous blog, we’ve made a hot list of work from home jobs that you might be interested to check out here.
The “new normal” is not all bad. Back then, working from home was just a surreal dream but now it’s a dream come true. Take advantage with this opportunity and jumpstart your new career at home.
Reach Out To Someone
If you’re still struggling to move past from the situation, don’t deal with this alone. Talk to people you trust the most like your family and friends. Seek for help with a professional or join support groups that are going through the same situation.
Our Escape Online Community is also here to support you. Reach out to us in our socials and share whatever you’re feeling.
Whichever route you’ll take, make sure you share that with someone.
Cheer up Babe!

WORK FROM HOME JOBS TO WATCH OUT THIS 2020
June 19, 2020 13 Comments
According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), “As a result of the economic crisis created by the pandemic, almost 1.6 billion informal economy workers out of a worldwide total of 2 billion and a global workforce of 3.3 billion, have suffered massive damage to their capacity to earn a living. This is due to lockdown measures and/or because they work in the hardest-hit sectors.”
We are not only fighting one virus here, but we’re also facing another one: UNEMPLOYMENT.
A lot of workers have lost their jobs in this pandemic. But believe it or not, every cloud has a silver lining. The pandemic was the “catalyst” for Work From Home Jobs around the world.
It’s about time to bounce back from what you’ve lost and check out these in-demand remote jobs.
Top 10 Work From Home Jobs
Some schools around the world are not planning to physically resume their classes anytime soon. Therefore, they launched ELearning or Online Classes for students. If you have a degree for teaching, then this might be a good opportunity for you. You actually don’t need to be a degree holder to do this, if you’re an expert for a specific skill, you can apply for companies that hire online tutors (ex. English Tutor) or start your own tutor gig.
Why not take advantage of the social media’s free platform to start and promote your very own business. Turn your hobby into a living by offering your expertise and services to others. A lot of homecooks and craftsmen turned entrepreneurs online by sharing what they are passionate about. You never know, maybe this is the break you’ve been waiting for.
For those who have a knack for producing engaging content aka “wordsmiths”, this will perfectly fit you. It’s no secret that every business no matter what industry they’re in, needs a PR, content writer, or a blogger. Digital marketing is on the rise to help out businesses reach a bigger market and add value to its customers.
By far the highest paid WFH position and in demand in the market right now are web developers. Most businesses are transitioning to the digital world and web developers play a critical role to help them create an online presence through developing websites, apps and softwares. Depending on skills and expertise, a Web Developer can earn $50,000-180,000 a year.
SMEs or eCommerce businesses usually outsource their administrative and clerical tasks. This is a good career to start when transitioning to virtual work since it only needs basic clerical experience. Common tasks involved are: email management, data entry, setting meetings, booking tickets and managing phone calls.
Fitness gyms are still closed to the public. That's the reason why a lot of fitness experts turn to social media to host a live fitness class. If you’re a fitness instructor, you don’t have to wait until the gym reopens but rather start your online fitness class. You’re not only earning but you’re also helping the community to live a healthier lifestyle.
If you have good communication skills, a reliable internet, phone, laptop and headphones, then you’re good to go. Amazon is a good example for hiring most of its CS agents virtually. All you need to do is sign-up to their website and keep updated for job openings.
With the unstoppable influx of eCommerce businesses, the demands for digital visuals, logos and website designs are highly in need for skilled designers. If you’re a certified designer and have an exceptional portfolio, you can earn as much as $45,000 per month.
If you’re a newbie and would like to try this out, a lot of companies pay a competitive hourly rate. First of all, you must have good attention to details and exceptional typing skills. A lot of businesses need transcriptionists to transcribe audiobooks, podcasts, medical dictations and lectures into an ebook.
Businesses, entertainers and influencers manage a huge following in their social media accounts. Social media experts are in-demand for this role especially if you have a marketing background as well. If you like engaging with online communities, running ad campaigns and making viral hashtags, then this is the time to turn your social media passion into a career.
We at Escape are aware of the current crisis we’re facing. We empathize for all of those who lost their jobs. This blog episode is dedicated especially for you.

June 09, 2020 59 Comments

Lets Stop Racism NOW
June 02, 2020 13 Comments
This year has presented the greatest battles we never thought we would ever encounter. Unexpected calamities. Threats of Terrorism. The Pandemic Fiasco. And now, RACISM.
We all know by now how the sad incident that took place this week in the U.S unfold to our very own eyes. I don’t even know how to start this. No words can describe how miserable it felt to witness a helpless man go through something so painful as that.
On behalf of the Escape Family, we sympathize with the Floyd Family. Our hearts and condolences go out to all of you. To our brothers and sisters from the Black Community who are hurting, we feel your hurt. We all are hurting. No one deserved this kind of treatment.
It’s sad that it takes one man’s life, for us to open our eyes to the sad reality that’s really happening around us.
How Did We Get Here?
It’s hard to grasp the truth that in today’s world, RACISM is still a big problem. I thought we have evolved as humans, that we've become more loving and sensitive to other people’s emotions.
It’s funny how technology has evolved and advanced, but humans on the other hand, stopped and still lived from the past. Some of us are still stuck from this rut of “same old mentality”.
We still can’t accept that WE ARE ALL THE SAME. No race, language, gender or status shall make anyone feel that they’re superior or inferior. None of us are better than anyone else. We all are equals. But why is it hard to accept for some?
We created stereotypes that are not even real. We made assumptions about a person’s life by judging their skin color. This problem goes beyond racism. We are too stuck in this toxic system that feels almost impossible to escape.
Real talk, our problems are skin-deep. It’s a problem inside of us that only us can fix, if only we sincerely allow it to.
Our Voice Has A Purpose. Let it BE HEARD.
We are grateful that our team has the privilege to utilize this online platform to influence and become a voice for positive change. And we would like to take this opportunity to support a common cause.
We stand together with our brothers and sisters all over the world to let them know that #BlackLivesMatter.
Join us in our Socials via Facebook Group and Instagram Community where together, we will unite.
Once and for all let’s not focus on ourselves and be more selfless. I know that all lives matter but in this crisis that we are now facing, let’s gather together in solidarity to support our Black Community.
This can’t go on over and over again. We have to do our part and contribute to realize that positive change that we have been asking for. We always wanted change but we can’t even start on ourselves.
Let’s do our part and start the change in ourselves.
Don't Be Trashy But Fight With Dignity
I can understand how others are feeling right now. You're angry, hurt and desperate to fight for justice.I know some of us have lost our faith to the system. We can't rely on it anymore, trust has been broken and too hard to restore.
But these emotions can be channeled into something positive. Our voices are precious and I hope we'll use it wisely.
Peaceful protests can already make a significant change. Riots and looting are totally unnecessary. We are better than that.
Trampling the country and even your own people is not the solution. We don't need to shed another blood that has already been shed. If this is the case, we are no different than those people who persecuted us.
Let's do this together but in a peaceful manner. Let not your heart go astray and focus on the fight that we need to win together.
Why Mental Health is Important During Quarantine
May 28, 2020 8 Comments
When you watch TV, you see corona. When you turn on the radio, you hear corona. When you scroll on social media, it's still about corona.
I mean, when is it going to end? Only God knows.
What you see and hear from the news can get overwhelming at times. This challenging situation we're in can make you feel scared and worried. It's normal because this virus is no joke.
But while it's important to stay alert and be informed, sometimes you need to pause and breathe.
Our lives have already changed in some ways over the period of months. We haven't seen our families and friends, stopped our normal daily routines, adjusting with the new "social distancing" and being isolated at home.
Little did we know, these changes have already affected us emotionally and mentally.
Effects of Home Isolation
Social deprivation can lead to serious psychological and physiological effects such as:
- Anxiety attacks
- Trouble sleeping
- Loss of appetite
These adverse effects are serious and it's something we can't just brush aside. Always keep your emotions in check and be watchful of the stuff you feed in your head.
Good thing there are ways to combat emotional stress and we believe you can put a STOP to it.
Ways to Take Care of Your Mental Health at Home
The constant news and social media updates may cause you to feel fearful and worried. People talk about their opinions and worries online which we tend to absorb. If it's already giving you anxiety, try to stop. Remember, their worries shouldn't be yours. Separate facts from rumors and avoid fake news at all cost.
Isolation at home made people try to stay productive as much as they could. Today they could be baking, the next day they're gardening and then you see yourself at home feeling less accomplished. While it's good to keep yourself busy, know that it's also okay to be less productive unlike how you did yesterday. Everyday is different, so don't be too hard on yourself. Take it slow.
Feeling lonely? Call your family and friends. Just because you're stuck at home doesn't mean you have to wing this alone. If you feel like you need someone to talk to, air it out. It's beneficial to your mental health to share your feelings and be heard. And also, your Escape family is here for you, too. Check us out on socials, like our Facebook Group and Instagram Community - where we’ve built a family and can share your thoughts/opinions anytime. We are always here for you! ❤
Our daily routine may have changed but it's okay. We can always keep our days structured and interesting by keeping a healthy lifestyle. Pay attention to your body's needs. Eat a healthy meal, exercise regularly, maintain a regular sleep schedule, avoid excess alcohol and practice relaxation methods such as breathing exercises.
At times like this it's understandable to feel paranoid and overwhelmed. Instead of shrugging it away, acknowledge these feelings. Remind yourself that it's okay to feel this way and then move on. Move forward and reach out to others who are going through the same situation. Turn those feelings into love and support others to fight negativity.
ONE LAST THING..
If things get difficult and serious, it will be helpful to talk to mental health services for counselling and proper medication.
Have a list of their numbers that you can call and do not try to self medicate especially if you have a serious medical condition.
Stay encouraged and keep the faith. And remember, we're ALL IN THIS TOGETHER.

Is Summer 2020 Really Cancelled?
May 22, 2020 5 Comments
Nothing has prepared us for this pandemic. Out of nowhere we're all locked up in our homes trying to stay safe and sane in this on-going crisis.
Then the next thing I know is that three months has already passed and..POOF! I asked myself, "Is it almost SUMMER?!"
I know how you feel, because we're on the same boat. I know everyone's excited for summer. We all just want this coronavirus to go away and have some fun again. But with the current stats failing to flatten the curve, our summer vibe might be on a temporary halt.
Shall I Go Ahead With My Summer Holiday or Cancel?
According to vulture.com, "in an effort to prevent spreading the virus, many concerts, festivals, film and TV shoots, and major events have been cancelled, rescheduled or modified. No Instagram influencers are taking a trip to Love Island this year, as ITV cancelled the summer 2020 season."
In addition to that, it's also unlikely that people can travel overseas anytime soon since some countries are still closing their borders and restricting travelers on taking non-essential trips. Airline companies have also controlled flight schedules and implemented strict boarding protocols.
Airlines and Travel Agencies are now facing a major backlash from delayed refunds from customers cancelling their holiday trip. With the current economic crisis, delays for refund are expected as companies try to bounce back from profit loss over the past few months.
With that being said, I'm not going to risk it for the biscuit. I might miss a much awaited summer holiday but I won't risk my health and safety over a trip that I might regret in the end.
So Summer's Cancelled, What Now?
Yes it's cancelled, but hey, it's not the end of the world. You're healthy, safe at home and have food on your table. You're still blessed.
There's a lot of fun ways to make the most out of the Summer season at the comfort of your homes.
Here are fun ways to spend a fun and productive summer at home.
